Couples Wins Again


NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) -- Fred Couples won his second straight Champions Tour title, shooting a 6-under 65 for a four-stroke victory Sunday in the Toshiba Classic.

Couples, making his third start on the 50-and-over Tour, had an 18-under 195 total on the Newport Beach Country Club course. He won the ACE Group Classic on Feb. 14 in Florida and finished second behind Tom Watson in the season-opening event in Hawaii. Fred Couples Wins 2010 ACE Group Classic

Naples, FL – Fred Couples (68-67-64=199) captured his first title on the Champions Tour by outlasting Tommy Armour III at The ACE Group Classic. Couples shot a bogey-free final round eight-under-par and needed every bit of it to beat Armour III by one stroke. It was his first official event victory since the 2003 Shell Houston Open on the PGA TOUR.

Langer captures Allianz Title

An improbably bunker shot landed Champions Tour professional Bernhard Langer with his first win of the season at last week's Allianz Championship during a sudden-death play-off with John Cook. Langer finished T4 at this year's ACE Group Classic and sat down with Tournament officials for a quick interview.
