Naples, FL – Peter Jacobsen will be returning to The ACE Group Classic in 2010 in a different role. Jacobsen, who hosted the 2009 tournament but did not compete due to injury, has notified officials that he plans to play when the tournament debuts at The Quarry in Naples. Officials have also been advised that World Golf Hall of Fame members Nick Price, Lanny Wadkins, Hale Irwin, Curtis Strange, Larry Nelson and Isao Aoki will participate. The ACE Group Classic will be held February 8 – 14.

“We are excited that Peter has decided to come back to Naples and compete this year,” said Tournament Director Jason Camp. “He was a gracious host last year, but it is good to see him back in competition, where he is always a crowd pleaser. We are also very happy to be able to announce the first group of Hall of Fame commitments that we have received. I think more commitments are yet to come.”

Jacobsen is recognized as one of golf’s greatest ambassadors. He won seven times on the PGA TOUR and two major championships on the Champions Tour. He joined an exclusive club with Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus as the only players to win two majors to start their over 50 careers. Among his many accomplishments, Jacobsen has hosted his own shows on The Golf Channel, Peter Jacobsen Plugged In and Peter and Friends.

Jacobsen has successfully fought through several injuries during his Champions Tour career. Prior to the start of his 2009 campaign, he suffered a damaged rotator cuff in his left shoulder and did not make his first start until June. He finished the year with eight starts, including one top-25 finish.

Price returns to Naples after the best year of his Champions Tour tenure in 2009. The 18-time PGA TOUR winner broke through with his first Champions Tour title at the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am. He finished the year 10th on the Official Money List. He has had success in Naples, as well. Last year, he finished T7 and in 2008 finished one stroke back of a four-way playoff in fifth.

Wadkins is the 2000 ACE Group Classic champion and a 21-time PGA TOUR winner. His highlight of 2009 came when he was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.

Irwin, the 1997 and 2002 ACE Group Classic champion, will play for the 11th time. He is the Champion Tour’s all-time victory leader, with 45 wins.
